Classroom Teacher Job Description
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, goal oriented, and caring individual to fill the position of Special Education Teacher. The programs are intensive twelve-month programs with a mandatory 6-week summer program. This position follows the school calendar, and there are approximately 8 weeks of paid vacation per year, 13 Holidays, 12 sick days, paid lunch break. Free Life Insurance is offered. Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance is available. A 401K plan with a company match is also available. Job Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am-3:00pm. No Weekends are required.
Responsibilities: Provide daily instruction to students with special needs. Utilize and assess student’s academic and behavioral goals via the IEP. Collect student data. Utilize NYS standards in order to implement an effective curriculum. Come and work in an outstanding team environment!
Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively with others. Demonstrate strong classroom management skills. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students. Demonstrate an ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality. Must have display strong communication skills. Work as part of a team to develop IEP’s. Participate in CSE meetings and effectively communicate with parents. Supervise teacher assistants. Must be willing to obtain and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification through our agency’s training program.

This is an amazing opportunity for new and experienced social workers who are looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and families struggling with Autism, ADHD, and other neurodevelopmental disorders. Minimum Qualifications: Must have good writing and communication skills. Must be organized, self-motivated and be able to work independently. Ability to work with students/staff of varied social/cultural backgrounds. Be able to provide your personal attention, kindness, professional insight and a generosity of spirit. Have the ability to demonstrate job expectations. Must have reliable transportation and a clean driver's license. One year experience working with a similar population is preferred but not required.

Assist the faculty and staff with the reporting of sexual and physical abuse cases. Keep and maintains complete and accurate health records. Notify families when students need physical examinations and assists in locating health resources. Cooperate with school personnel in identifying and meeting social, emotional, and physical needs of special education school children. Gather medical information from health professionals treating students. Serve as a medical resource for students, staff and families.
