St. Colman's School
Welcome to St. Colman's School, an 853, non-profit educational institution approved by the New York State Education Department, dedicated to serving students aged 5-21. Located in the heart of the Capital District, our school campus offers two distinct programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students.
At St. Colman's, we take pride in offering specialized educational opportunities, including our Autism Program and ED Program. Despite the unique focus of each program, we foster a cohesive learning community that unites students and staff across our campus.
Our comprehensive educational approach is designed to empower students to achieve independence in all aspects of their lives. We prioritize academic excellence alongside developing social and functional life skills and employment readiness. Our curriculum is individualized, guided by each student's Individual Education Plan (IEP), ensuring personalized support aligned with their needs and interests. Additionally, we provide a range of related services, including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, social work, physical therapy, adaptive PE, music therapy, and family advocate services.
St. Colman's Residential Program offers a supportive environment for students with ASD or related diagnoses, aged 7-21, referred and placed by their home school district CSE. Accredited by NYS OCFS, our residential program integrates seamlessly with our school program, promoting continuity of learning and skill development throughout the day. Emphasizing our commitment to a unified learning community, collaboration between our school and residential programs enriches the educational experience for all our students.
In our residential program, students experience a nurturing, home-like atmosphere while focusing on essential life skills, daily living tasks, social interaction, and vocational readiness. Through structured activities and community outings, students have opportunities to explore and navigate the world around them, fostering growth and independence.
At St. Colman's School, we are dedicated to unlocking the full potential of every student, equipping them with the skills and confidence to thrive academically, socially, and beyond.
